My definition
of thinking and acting rhetorically. Rhetoric means to be able to add your
voice to conversations and be able to use what others say to promote your message.
I think that a person is a good writer when they can think rhetorically. The definition
of rhetoric. The art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing,
especially the use of figures of speech and other composition techniques.
Language designed to have a persuasive or
impressive effect on its audience, but often regarded as lacking in sincerity
or meaningful content.
"All
we have from the opposition is empty rhetoric" This means that rhetoric is
just persuading someone to think like you do.Rhetorician Susan Miller sums up why we study rhetoric: “if you want to know how power works you must understand how language works-and that’s what the study of rhetoric is all about” this points to how critical writing, reading, speaking, and listening is in everyday life of our modern civilization, so that we can tell if someone is trying to rhetorically convince us of something or telling us fact.
When writing rhetorically you have to make sure you are listening to things people say about your topic. make sure you cite your resources when writing because it makes you seem more credible.
three good sayings i have heard about with rhetoric is listen before you join in to the conversation in order to make the most impact, another saying is put your oar in meaning don't be afraid to join in to the conversation, another is give credit where credit is due it improves your accountability.
